English Abstract
The aim of this study is to demonstrate how different self-study exercises are used to support traditional teaching methods in the department of Electric Power Engineering at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) and what the students’ opinions on this are. Traditionally courses include lectures and calculation exercises. Self-study exercises have been added to some courses to support traditional teaching methods. Used self-study exercises are composed of calculation and explanation exercises and a project work, which includes a presentation. After the courses students were asked to fill in an inquiry. According to these limited inquiries, the self-study exercises seem to be useful, and will also be used in other courses in the future.
